Desejo da Terra - Luís Perdiz
The book "Desire for Earth," by São Paulo poet Luís Perdiz, recently received a musical and experimental version, with readings by the author and arrangements by Bruno Gazoni. The album, available on major digital platforms, brings new color to the collection of poems from the author's third work, which revisits his main influences: Brazilian modernism, tropicalism, surrealism, and the beat generation.
For writer and musician Jorge Mautner, who introduced the literary work, these poems are prayers with the message of eternal resurrection. They are haikus from the universal Amazonian Brazil. They are like the music of Villa-Lobos interpreting Tupã, the god of Brazil.
The musical part, conceived with a very diverse palette of sounds, builds an arc that begins with greater intensity, becomes more introspective in the central tracks, returning to the psychedelic energy in the final tracks until the album's conclusion.
Different instrumental formations were used: ensembles of acoustic instruments, such as cello, kalimba, percussion, and piano; electric instruments, such as guitar and bass; as well as other inserts such as pipe organ, orchestral sections and synthesizers.
